Self Help, Incorporated, the Community Action Agency representing 30 cities and towns in southeastern Massachusetts is seeking candidates for its Board of Directors Limited Income Representatives sector. Candidates do not have to be of limited income, their role is to represent the needs of the limited income. If elected, new members will be seated at the March, 2012 Board meeting.
The Self Help Board of Directors is one-third limited income representatives; one-third political appointees and one-third major interest representatives. Board members are volunteers who participate in the decision-making process for the agency including programming, budgets, personnel and administration. As a Board member you will be required to attend a minimum of one meeting per month. Board members represent either cities or groups of towns in our “Capped*” service area. *Our Capped area includes Brockton; Attleboro; North Attleboro, Norton and Plainville; Avon, Canton and Stoughton; Abington, Holbrook and Randolph; Bridgewater, East Bridgewater and West Bridgewater; Sharon, Easton and Mansfield; Whitman, Rockland and Hanson. You must be a resident of one of these cities or towns to serve on the Board as a Limited Income Representative.
