FEMA Disaster Assistance

How can FEMA help you recover from a natural disaster?

Hurricanes, tornados, floods, blizzards, and other natural disasters do occur in Massachusetts now and then, so it’s smart to be aware of where to turn for help when they do. In addition to the more widespread assistance that FEMA is known for providing following major disasters, they also offer Individual Disaster Assistance that can help if your home has been impacted by a presidentially-declared natural disaster.

FEMA may also assist with other expenses caused by a disaster, including medical and dental, child care, funeral and burial, essential household items, moving and storage, vehicle, and some clean-up items.

To apply for help from FEMA, go to their Disaster Assistance website, enter your information into the forms, answer the questions, and submit your application. If you need help filing your application, contact Self Help and we will guide you through the process.
